New Category 6 solutions

1 October 2003

Leading structured cabling system manufacturer Molex Premise Networks, has announced the release of its new Category 6 solution - PowerCat 6 and the new Contura range of wallplates.
The new PowerCat 6 solution comprises of Category 6 patch panels, wall outlets and patch cords. The new patch panels and wall outlets incorporate the innovative DataGate Plus jack. This RJ-45 jack is designed with an automatic shutter that not only protects the jack from dust and contaminants, but also, by virtue of its spring loaded design, ejects an improperly inserted patch cord virtually eliminating faulty connections from the patch panel to the desktop. The new DataGate Plus jack offers significantly enhanced Category 6 performance, along with modified termination block design to assist cable termination and retention.
Simultaneously with the launch of this new Category 6 solution - Molex Premise Networks is introducing a new range of wallplates, which have been designed to combine functionality with aesthetics. The new Contura range consists of single and double gang wallplates with rear gridplates.
These plates accommodate the new DataGate Plus jack in an angled module, thus reducing patch cord bend radius. These wallplates can be identified by means of a labelling facility or connector icon labels. The curved design of the new Contura range is ideal for the modern office environment, and its modular style, allows expansion of ports as and when required.
This new range of Category 6 products, combined with the Category 6 PDS system, means that Molex can offer a comprehensive end to end solution with impressive component and channel performance.
All of these Molex Category 6 products have been independently tested by ETL Semko and verified for Category 6 component compliance. The ITS ETL SEMKO Verification Program objectively tests and verifies the performance of manufacturers connectivity hardware for compliance with industry standard performance parameters.
