New MFDs for SA market

1 February 2008

Itec South Africa has introduced three new colour multifunctional systems, the C203, C253, C253, offering output speeds of 20, 25 and 35 pages-per-minute in colour or black-and-white respectively.
"Part of a new series, these models combine the reliability of black-and-white machines with the advanced features required of colour devices, hence are designed to replace existing monochrome copiers or printers," says Holger Groenert, product marketing manager at Itec South Africa. "To promote this strategy the systems will have only a minimal price premium to comparable monochrome systems and would also keep their functionality for monochrome output if not loaded with colour consumables. Monochrome output costs are at least as economical as those of comparable monochrome units."

The C203 is targeted at smaller businesses that want to make the move to colour and need to replace outdated monochrome devices. The C253 and the C353 target medium sized businesses and corporate environments. Integrated access control features are designed to prevent unauthorised use of the device and to monitor actual usage. These include the option of a super-fast biometric finger vein authentication scanner that identifies users.
Quality output in monochrome and colour is assured by a new toner formula of Polymerised Toner with smaller, smoother, more uniform toner particles for more even distribution, significantly better fine line definition and better solid fills. That in conjunction with the optional Fiery Image controller will make the C253 and C353 also interesting tools for users with graphic applications.
"All three devices offer support for the next generation Windows Vista operating system, including XPS scanning and printing and WSD protocols (Web Service on Devices)," adds Groenert. "Elegant and sleek design also ensures that they will complement the modern office."
All three models are equipped with advanced network printer, scanner and copier functionality, as well as an optional Super G3 fax module. The systems provide a unified driver for the print and scan functions. The image controller supports PCL6c and PostScript Level 3 printing as standard. A new feature is direct printing from a USB memory and scanning to a USB memory plugged in at the system.
For easy operation of functions by all users, the design includes a full-colour display with a touch screen that can be rotated and tilted to suit a desired position. The screen also features thumbnails of each job in the user box for easy document identification and rerouting.
Paper up to 256gsm can be fed from all the trays and can also be processed double-sided. The bypass tray can feed paper up to 271gsm. Standard paper supply is 1150 sheets and can be upgraded to a maximum 3 650 A4 sheets with a large capacity tray.
The C203, C253 and C353 are available with a range of high productivity finishing options including sorting, stapling and saddle stitching, as well as four-hole punching capabilities.
