Microsoft offers online sychronisation platform

8 May 2008

Microsoft has launched the beta version of a software-plus-services platform that it said will enable users to automatically synchronise information and content on a PC or device with the Internet and other PCs and devices.
It said the Wire Mesh platform uses a combination of client software and web services that will make it easier to share content and to access remote devices and applications.
It said services included storage, membership, peer-to-peer communication, sync, and newsfeed, through the Live Mesh API.
Live Mesh is being offered to a group of 10 000 test users and runs with Microsoft's XP or Vista operating systems. Other devices, including Apple's Mac computers and mobiles, will be able to use the service later this year.
