Nuance upgrades speech-recognition software

14 August 2008

Speech-recognition software vendor Nuance Communications has released the latest version of its Dragon NaturallySpeaking software.
The company said Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, which enables users to write documents and e-mails, search the web, and control a PC by voice, is nearly twice as fast as the previous release and can deliver accuracy of up to 99%.
It can be used with PC applications including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and AOL Instant Messenger.
Steve Chambers, president of Nuance's mobile and consumer division, said: "Speech technology has reached a critical turning point where it is now fundamentally changing the way we interact with the world around us. There is no need to take time to train the software or learn arcane steps or commands anymore, people can simply start talking and see their ideas flow directly onto the page."
Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Standard, Preferred and Professional editions are available from Nuance's web site as well as its global partner network.
