Advanced Micro Devices has upgraded its desktop platform to include advanced clock calibration technology and integrated performance tuning for Phenom processors and ATI Radeon HD 3300 graphics.
AMD said the 790GX chipset also includes ATI Hybrid CrossFireX technology that pairs the on-board Radeon HD 3600 graphics with graphics cards. It incorporates the SB750 Southbridge that enhances Phenom processor performance. It supports various formats including VC-1, MPEG-2, and H.2646, and incorporates video interfaces including DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, and Surroundview.
Phil Eisler, corporate vice president and general manager at AMD's chipset division, said: "The AMD 790GX chipset contains several AMD innovations that further improve both multicore AMD Phenom processor performance and motherboard ATI Radeon graphics performance, the result of which are versatile performance PCs that deliver an eye-catching visual experience."
The 790GX boards are priced in the range of $100 to $150.
